At that time, only the
Lord can comfort our souls.
Esther heard about what
had happened concerning Mordecai,
and she was deeply
distressed.
She sent clothes for him
to wear, but he refused them
(Esther 4:4).
As I reflect on this
passage,
I believe we can
experience great distress because of those we love.
Especially when this
distress weighs heavily on our hearts,
our souls may feel
compelled to reject any comfort offered by others.
My thoughts on this are
based on Psalms 77:2:
“In the day of my
trouble I sought the Lord;
In the night my hand was
stretched out without weariness;
My soul refused to be
comforted.”
There are times when we
are so distressed that our soul refuses to be comforted.
At that time, only the
Lord can comfort our souls.
