A. What Is Biblical Mission? “Biblical mission means more than simply going overseas to plant churches or spread civilization. It means the church participating in the ‘mission of God (Missio Dei)’ and seeking the restoration of God’s rule and glory throughout the whole earth. Mission is not a program that begins with human enthusiasm; rather, it is the heart of God that runs throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and is a fundamental reason for the church’s existence. 큰 위기 속에서의 큰 구원
하나님께서는 요나에게 "저 큰 성읍" 니느웨로 가서 그것을 향하여 외치라고 명하셨습니다(욘1:2). 그러나 요나는 불순종하였습니다. 그러므로 하나님께서는 불순종하는 요나가 탄 배에 "큰 바람"을 내리시므로 "큰 폭풍"이 일어나게 하셨습니다(4절). 그 배가 거의 깨지게 된 큰 위기였습니다. 그러나 하나님께서는 요나를 위하여 "큰 물고기"를 예비하셨습니다(17절). 요나는 하나님의 말씀(1절)에 불순종하였지만(3절) 그 큰 물고기를 하나님의 말씀에 순종하여 요나를 육지에 토했습니다(2:10).
이렇게 하나님께서는 큰 물고기보다 못한 불순종하는 요나에게 큰 위기를 허락해 주셨지만 또한 하나님께서는 그 큰 위기에서 요나를 건져주시고자 큰 물고기를 예비하셨습니다. 이와 같이럼, 하나님께서는 불순종하는 우리에게 큰 역경과 어려움을 주시지만 또한 하나님께서는 우리에게 큰 구원을 이루어 주십니다.
