원망하는 마음은 점진적으로 과거를 그리워합니다.
가데스에서 모세와 다퉜던 이스라엘 백성들은 (1) “우리 형제들이 여호와 앞에서 죽을 때에 우리도 죽었더라면 좋을 뻔하였도다”(민20:3; 참고: 16:31-25)라고 말한 후, (2) “너희가 어찌하여 여호와의 회중을 이 광야로 인도하여 우리와 우리 짐승이 다 여기서 죽게 하느냐”(20:4)라고 말했고, (3) 결국에 가서는 “너희가 어찌하여 우리를 애굽에서 나오게 하여 이 나쁜 곳으로 인도하였느냐 …”(5절)라고 말했습니다. 이 (1) ~ (3)까지의 내용의 흐름을 보면 이스라엘 백성들의 입장에서 제일 근래에 있었던 (1)에서 좀 더 과거인 (2), 그리고 결국 (3)에 가서는 그 셋 중에 제일 과거인 “애굽”에서 왜 자기들을 나오게 했냐고 모세를 원망했습니다. 이렇게 원망하는 마음은 점진적으로 과거로 돌아갑니다.
우리에게 원망하는 마음이 있으면 우리는 이렇게 점진적으로 과거로 돌아가 결국에 가서는 예수님을 믿기 전에 “애굽”과 같은 이 죄악된 세상에서의 삶을 그리워합니다.
