A. What Is Biblical Mission? “Biblical mission means more than simply going overseas to plant churches or spread civilization. It means the church participating in the ‘mission of God (Missio Dei)’ and seeking the restoration of God’s rule and glory throughout the whole earth. Mission is not a program that begins with human enthusiasm; rather, it is the heart of God that runs throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and is a fundamental reason for the church’s existence. Let me clearly summarize five essential principles of true mission as presented in Scripture. 🌍 1. The Mission of God (Missio Dei) The subject and initiator of mission is not human beings but God. In order to save fallen humanity, God first comes to us, sends His Son, and sends the Holy Spirit. He is the “missionary God” who sends. “우리를 죽이려고 하는 악한 원수는 바로 이 하만입니다.”
하고 에스더 왕후가 아하수에로 왕에게 말했을 때 이 말을 듣는 순간 새파랗게 질린 하만은 왕과 황후 앞에서 두려워 벌벌
떨기 시작했습니다. 왕은 격분하여 자리에서
벌떡 일어나 궁전 정원으로 나갔고 하만은 황이 자기를 죽이기로 “결심”한 것을 알고 왕후 에스더에게 목숨을 살려달라고 애걸했습니다(에스더 7:6-7,
현대인의 성경). 저는 이 말씀을 묵상할 때 에스더 3장 6절 현대인의
성경 말씀이 생각났습니다: “더구나 모르드개가 유다 사람이라는 말을 듣고 그는 모르드개만 죽일 것이 아니라
페르시아 제국 안에 있는 모든 유다 사람들을 전멸시키기로 결심하였다.”
분명히 에스더 3장에서 하만은 유다 사람인 모르드개가 자기에게 무릎을
꿇지도 않고 절하지도 않는 것을 보고 화가 머리 끝까지 치밀어 올라 모르드개만 아니라 페르시아 제국 안에 있는 모든 유다 사람들을 전멸시키기로
“결심”했었는데(3:5-6, 현대인의
성경) 에스더 7장에 와서는 하만은 아하수에로 왕이 자기를 죽이기로
“결심”한 것을 알게 된 것입니다(7:7, 현대인의 성경). 어떻게
하만의 “결심”이 아하수에로 왕의 “결심”을 이길 수 있겠습니까? 결코 이기지 못합니다! 하나님께서 독생자 예수 그리스도 안에서 매우 사랑하사 선택한
우리를 구원하시기로 결심하신 것은 어느 누구(당연히 사탄)의 결심도
넉넉히 이길 수밖에 없습니다(참고: 로마서 8:37).
