믿음이 없이는 예수님의 말씀대로 순종하여 죽은 나사로의 동굴 무덤의 입구를 막은 돌을 옮겨 놓지 못했을 것입니다.  믿음이 없이는 하나님의 영광을 보지 못했을 것입니다(요한복음 11:38-45).  "믿음이 없이는 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 수 없습니다"(히브리서 11:6, 현대인의 성경).  "우리는 믿음으로 살아가지, 보는 것으로 살아가지 아니합니다"(고린도후서 5:7, 새번역).
