Devotional Reflection Based on the Incident of Peter Cutting Off Malchus's Ear: “Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.” ( Mark 14:47, Today's Korean Version ) 1. Identifying the People Involved: The person who stood beside Jesus and drew the sword was Simon Peter . The servant of the high priest was named Malchus . “Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.” ( John 18:10 ) 2. Jesus' Response to Peter's Action: (a) Jesus said: “Permit even this.” ( Luke 22:51, KJV: “Suffer ye thus far”; RSV: “No more of this” ) The Greek words clarify this: “ἕως τούτου” (“heōs toutou”) = “up to this point” or “even this” “ἐᾶτε” (“eate”) = “allow it,” “let it be,” “leave it alone” Therefore, Jesus is essentially saying: “Let them do what they are doing. 사명 따라 사는 나? 




나는 말할 줄을 모르는 아이인데 주님은 나에게 '내가 너를 누구에게 보내든지 너는 가며 내가 네게 무엇을 명령하든지 너는 말하라'고 명하셨습니다.  주님은 나에게 "그들 때문에 두려워하지 말라 내가 너와 함께 하여 너를 구원하리라"고 말씀하셨습니다.  그래서 나는 가서 주님께서 명령하신 말씀을 그들에게 전했습니다.  그랬더니 그들이 나를 붙잡고 나에게 "네가 반드시 죽어야 하리라"고 외칩니다(예레미야 1:6-8; 26:8).
