천국 잔치에 많은 사람들이 청함을 받았지만(마 22:2, 4) "다 일치하게 사양"을 하고 있습니다(눅 14:18). 그 이유는 그들은 천국 잔치에 왕이신(마 22:2) 주님보다 "자기 부모와 처자와 형제와 자매와" 자기의 목숨을 더 사랑하고 있기 때문입니다(눅 14:26). 그 이유는 그들은 자기 십자가를 지고 주님을 따르고 있지 않고 있기 때문입니다(27절). 그 이유는 그들은 자기의 모든 소유를 버리지 않고 있기 때문입니다(33절). 한 마디로, 그 이유는 그들은 예수님의 참 제자가 아니기 때문입니다(26, 27, 33절). 그 이유는 그들은 택함을 입은 자들이 아니기 때문입니다(마 22:14).
