하나님의 말씀을 "욕으로" 여깁니다(예레미야 6:10). 즉, 하나님의 말씀이 불쾌(offensive)합니다. 그 이유는 하나님의 말씀이 우리에게 책망(reproach)이 되었기 때문입니다. 그 결과 우리는 그 불쾌한 말씀을 듣기를 거부합니다. 그리고 우리는 계속 행하던 대로 행합니다. 그러면 그럴 수록 우리의 마음은 강팍해지고 완악해 집니다. 우리는 목을 굳게 하여 이젠 더 이상 하나님의 말씀에 귀를 기울이지도 않습니다. 이렇게 하나님의 말씀을 욕으로 여기는 우리에게는 반드시 우리 행동의 결과(consequence)가 있습니다.
