Devotional Reflection Based on the Incident of Peter Cutting Off Malchus's Ear: “Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.” ( Mark 14:47, Today's Korean Version ) 1. Identifying the People Involved: The person who stood beside Jesus and drew the sword was Simon Peter . The servant of the high priest was named Malchus . “Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.” ( John 18:10 ) 2. 말했어야 했는데 쳤습니다. 



하나님께서는 모세에게 이스라엘 회중의 목전에서 반석에게 "명령하여(speak) 물을 내라 하라"고 말씀하셨습니다( 20:8).  그러나 모세는 자기의 손을 들어 자기의 지팡이로 반석을 쳤습니다(struck) (11).  하나님께서는 모세에게 '너가 나를 믿지 아니하고 이스라엘 목전에서 거룩함을 나타내지 않았다'고 말씀하셨습니다(12).  그럼에도 불구하고 하나님께서는 "그들 중에서 거룩함을 나타내셨"습니다(13).
