주님의 계명은 '서로 사랑하라'인데(요일3:23) 만일 우리가 사랑을 행하지 않고 있으면 마치 호랑이가 먹이감을 노려보면서 잡아 먹으려고 몸을 웅크리고 있는 것처럼 죄가 사랑하기를 거부하는 우리 마음 앞에서 웅크리고 있다가(참고: 4:7; 요일3:14) 틈만 보이면(참고: 4:3) 우리 안에 형제를 미워하라는 생각을 넣어서(13:2) 결국 우리로 하여금 형제를 미워하는 살인죄를 범하게 만들고 있습니다(요일3:15).
