The Inseparable Love of God (1) [ Romans 8:38-39 ] Why can nothing separate us from the love of God? 1. Because God’s love is eternal. Romans 8:29a says: “For those whom He foreknew…” The word “foreknew” refers to before eternity began —before the creation of heaven and earth . The phrase “those whom He foreknew” does not simply mean knowing about someone intellectually, but rather loving them. In other words, it refers to “those whom God loved from eternity past.” Amos 3:2a says: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth.” If “known” merely meant intellectual knowledge, that would imply that God only knew Israel and did not know the other nations—which cannot be true, because the all-knowing God lacks knowledge of nothing. Therefore, “I have known you only” means “I have loved you only.” God loved Israel among all the nations of the earth. 나의 삶의 원동력
나의 삶의 원동력은 오직 그리스도의 사랑이다. 나를 위하여 십자가에 대신 죽으신 그리스도의 사랑이 나를 강권하시므로 어떠한 역경과 고통 속에서도 이제는 나를 위하여 사는 것이 아니요 나를 위하여 십자가에 대속 죽으신 예수님을 위해서 살아야 한다.
나의 삶의 원동력이 되는 그리스도의 사랑이 내 속에서 강력하게 역사하시므로 그 불가항력적인 힘으로 인하여 나는 내게 주신 사명과 사역을 희생적으로 묵묵히 감당해야 한다. 사랑의 빛진 자의 자세로 신실하게 감당해야 한다. 그 사명과 사역은 바로 화목케 하는 것이다. 나는 이웃과 이웃을 화목하게 하는 화목의 직분을 감당해야 한다. 또한 나는 하나님의 관점으로 한 영혼, 영혼을 바라보면서 하나님의 형상으로 지은바 된 그 영혼을 그리스도의 복음으로 하나님과 화목케 해야한다. 이것이 나의 삶의 존재 목적이다.
