We are taught that we must become upright people who, in God’s sight, are blameless and fully keep His commandments. “In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly” [(Modern Translation: “When Herod was king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah of the division of Abijah, and his wife Elizabeth also came from the family of Aaron. They were righteous before God and faithfully kept all the Lord’s commandments and regulations without fault”)] (Luke 1:5–6). 우리 기도의 응답이 우리 기대대로 현실화 되지 않을 때 우리는 하나님께 감사하지 못할 수밖에 없습니다. 기도 응답의 현실화는 우리가 기도한 내용대로, 우리가 기대한 대로 돼야 할 필요가 없습니다. 우리의 기도 응답은 하나님의 주권에 속하였습니다. 그러므로 우리는 하나님의 주권적인 뜻이 이루어졌음을 믿고 하나님께 감사 기도를 드려야 합니다. 우리는 과거에 베풀어 주신 하나님의 구원을 기억하므로 하나님께 감사 기도를 드려야 합니다. 우리는 “구원은 여호와께서 주시는 것입니다”(욘2:9)라는 사실을 믿고 하나님께 감사 기도를 드려야 합니다. 과거에 구원을 베풀어 주신 하나님께서 현재에도 구원을 베풀어 주실 줄 믿고 하나님께 감사 기도를 드려야 합니다. 우리는 어제나 오늘이나 영원토록 동일하신(히13:8) 구원의 하나님을 믿음으로 하나님께 감사 기도를 드려야 합니다. 우리는 구원의 확신과 구원의 소망을 가지고 믿음으로 하나님께 감사 기도를 드려야 합니다.
