Devotional Reflection Based on the Incident of Peter Cutting Off Malchus's Ear: “Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.” ( Mark 14:47, Today's Korean Version ) 1. Identifying the People Involved: The person who stood beside Jesus and drew the sword was Simon Peter . The servant of the high priest was named Malchus . “Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.” ( John 18:10 ) 2. 오히려 하나님을 두려워해야 하는데 ... 



담대히 나갔던 이스라엘 자손이 자기들 뒤에 애굽 사람들이 있는 것을 보고 심히 두려워했던 것을 보면 그들은 광야에서 애굽 사람들 손에 죽임을 당할까 두려워했습니다.  그것은 이스라엘 백성들이 그만큼 살기를 원했기 때문입니다( 14:8-12).  그런데 그들은 신광야에서 고기 때문에 "여호와의 손에 죽었더라면 좋았을 "이라고 말한 (16:3) 보면 이스라엘 백성들은 애굽 사람들의 손에 죽임을 당하는 것은 심히 두려워 했으면서도 하나님의 손에 죽임을 당하는 것은 하나도 두려워 하지 않았던 같습니다.
