A. What Is Biblical Mission? “Biblical mission means more than simply going overseas to plant churches or spread civilization. It means the church participating in the ‘mission of God (Missio Dei)’ and seeking the restoration of God’s rule and glory throughout the whole earth. Mission is not a program that begins with human enthusiasm; rather, it is the heart of God that runs throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and is a fundamental reason for the church’s existence. 결코 하나님은 시간을 허비하지 않으십니다. 우리가 보기엔 요셉이 17살 때(창37:2) 형들에게 미움을 받아 상인에게 팔려(25-28절) 애굽 사람 보디발의 노예로 살다가(39:1) 감옥에서도(20-23절) 2년 동안있다가(41:1) 그의 나이 30살 때(46절) 애굽의 총리가 될 때까지 약 13년의 그의 인생이 허비된 것 같아 보이지만 하나님께서는 그의 시간을 결코 허비하지 않으셨습니다.
하나님께서는 "구덩이"에 있었던 요셉을(37:20, 22) 애굽 사람 보디발의 집의 "가정 총무"로 세우시고(39:4), 우리가 보기엔 억욱하게 누명을 쓰고 감옥에 2년 동안 갇혀 있었던 시간이 너무나 허비한 시간 같아 보일지라도 하나님께서는 감옥에서 요셉과 함께 하시고 그에게 인자를 더하사 간수장에게 은혜를 받게 하셔서 그 제반 사무를 요셉이 처리하였을 뿐만 아니라(39:21-22) 요셉으로 하여금 애굽 왕 바로의 술 맡은 관원장을 만나게 하시사(40:1) 결국에는 만 2년 후 그 술 맡은 관원장으로 하여금 요셉을 꿈꾸었던 바로 왕에게 소개하게 하시므로(41:9-13) 결국에는 요셉으로 하여금 바로 왕의 꿈을 해석케 하시므로 그로하여금 애굽의 총리가 되게 하셨습니다(41절).
이렇게 하나님께서 요셉의 13년 인생(17-30살)을 허비하지 않으시고 그를 높이고 높이시사 애굽의 총리까지 되게 하신 이유는 그로 하여금 야곱과 그의 자녀들 및 후손들의 생명을 구원(보전)하시사 이 세상에 두시려고 하신 것입니다(45:5, 7).
