하나님께서 우리에게 원하시는 것은 ...
하나님이 우리에게 원하시는 것은 우리가 하나님을 아는 것입니다(호 6:6). 그런데 우리는 하나님을 아는 지식도 없습니다(4:1). 우리가 하나님을 아는 지식이 없으므로 망하고 있습니다(6절). 목사님들도 하나님을 아는 지식을 버렸습니다(6절). 우리 모두가 하나님의 율법(계명)을 잊어버렸습니다(6절). 지금 교인들과 교회 수는 줄어들고 있는데 목사님들은 늘어나고 있습니다. 그런데 목사님들이 많으면 많을수록 하나님께 더 많이 범죄하고 있습니다(7절, 현대인의 성경). 그러므로 하나님은 우리의 영광을 수치로 바꾸고 계십니다(7절, 현대인의 성경).
우리가 하나님을 아는 것을 원치 않는 이유는 우리가 하나님을 알아가면 갈수록 우리의 죄가 들춰지고 있기 때문입니다(엡 5:11). 다시 말하면, 우리가 하나님을 아는 지식을 추구하지 않는 이유는 지금 우리는 어둠의 일에 참여하고 있기 때문입니다(11절). 우리가 입술로는 하나님과 교제한다고 말하지만 실제로는 죄를 짓는 어두운 생활을 하고 있기에(요일1:6, 현대인의 성경) 우리는 하나님을 알고 싶어하지 않고 있습니다.
우리는 하나님을 알아야 합니다. 우리는 힘써 하나님을 알아가야 합니다(호 6:3).
