다윗 왕은 저녁 때에 자신의 침상에서 일어나 왕궁 옥상에서 거닐다가 충실한 군인 우리아의 아내인 밧세바가 목욕하는 광경을 보고 심히 아름다워 보이는 여인과 동침하고 자신의 죄를 덮으려고 그녀의 남편인 우리아까지 죽이므로 하나님 보시기에 악한 죄를 범하였습니다(삼하11).
