받은 은혜에 감사하지 않는 마음은 이미 교만해진 마음입니다.
모든 나라가 히스기야 왕을 우러러보게 되었을 때 그는 병들어 죽게
되었습니다. 그래서 그가 하나님께 기도하자 하나님께서는 그의 기도에 응답하시고
그에게 병이 나으리라는 표적을 주셨습니다. 그런데도 히스기야는 마음이 교만하여 자기가 받은 은혜를 고맙게 여기지 않았습니다(역대하 32:23-25,
현대인의 성경). 저는 이 말씀을 묵상할 때 “그러므로 선 줄로 생각하는 사람은 넘어질까 조심하시시오”라는 고린도전서 10장 12절 현대인의 성경 말씀이 생각났습니다. 또한 저는 우리 마음이 교만해지면 우리는 하나님께 받은 은혜를
고맙게 여기지 않는다는 것을 생각하게 되었습니다. 달리 말한다면, 받은 은혜에 감사하지 않는 마음은 이미 교만해진 마음이라 생각합니다.
