"가브리엘"("하나님의 능력")

흥미로운 점은 천사 “가브리엘”이란 이름의 뜻이 “하나님의 능력”이라는 것입니다 (호크마). 이것이 저에게 흥미로운 이유는 하나님께서 천사 가브라엘을 통해 하나님의 능력을 믿지 않는 사가랴에게 “이 기쁜 소식”(19절)을 전하신 것처럼 “전능하신 하나님”(창17:1, 현대인의 성경)께서는 하나님의 능력을 믿지 않는 아브라함에게 “나 여호와에게 불가능한 일이 있겠느냐?”(18:14, 현대인의 성경)하고 말씀하셨기 때문입니다.
