Devotional Reflection Based on the Incident of Peter Cutting Off Malchus's Ear: “Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.” ( Mark 14:47, Today's Korean Version ) 1. Identifying the People Involved: The person who stood beside Jesus and drew the sword was Simon Peter . The servant of the high priest was named Malchus . “Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.” ( John 18:10 ) 2. 살 소망이 끊어졌을 때 



힘에 겹도록 심한 고난을 당하여  소망까지 끊어졌을 자신이 사형 선고를 받은 알았을 나는 하나님의 뜻이 나로 하여금 자신을 의지하지 말고 오직 죽은 자를 다시 살리시는 하나님만 의지하게 하시고자 함임을 믿어야 한다.  그리고 나는 구원의 하나님께서 과거에도 사망에서 건져주신 것처럼 현재에도 위기 가운데 건져주실 것이며 미래에도 건져주실 믿어야 한다(고린도후서 1:8-10).
