독수리가 날개로 자기 새끼를 보호하듯이 하나님께서는 이스라엘 자손을
보호하여 하나님에게 인도하시사 그들로 하여금 하나님의 말씀을 잘 듣고 하나님의 계약을 지키므로 모든 민족 가운데서 하나님의 소중한 백성이 되게하시되
특별히 하나님에게 제사장 나라와 거룩한 백성이 되게 하셨습니다(출애굽기 19:4-6, 현대인의 성경). 우리는
하나님의 눈에 보배롭고 존귀하며 하나님께서 우리를 사랑하십니다(이사야 43:4). 우리는 하나님이 선택하신 민족이며 왕 같은 제사장이요 거룩한
나라요 하나님의 소유가 된 백성입니다. 이것은 우리를 어두움에서 불러내어 놀라운 빛 가운데 들어가게 하신 하나님을 널리 찬양하도록 하기 위한 것입니다(베드로전서 2:9, 현대인의 성경).
