하나님의 뜻대로 고난을 받는 고용인은 고난을 받을 때에 부끄러워하지 않고 도리어 “그리스도인”이라는
이름으로 하나님께 영광을 돌립니다(벧전4:16). 하나님의 뜻대로 고 난을
받는 고용인은 그리스도인으로서 고난을 받을 때에 부 끄러워하지
않습니다.

이유는 그는 예수님을 믿기 전에 처럼
자신의 정욕을 따라 살인이나 도둑질이나 악행이나 남의 일을 간섭하는 일로 고난을 받는 것이 아니라 오히려 예수님을 믿음으로 죄사함을 받고 죄의
관계를 끊은 상태에서 하나님의 뜻을 따라 살아가고 있기 때문입니다. 그러므로 그는 자신이 그리스도인이라는 이유로 고난을 받을 때에 부끄러워하지 않고 오히려 그리스도인이라는 이름으로 하나님께 영광을
돌립니다. 즉, 하나님의 뜻대로 고난을 받는 고용인은 그리스도인으로서 하나님의 복음을 순종하므로 하나님께 영광을 돌립니다. 이렇게
하나님의 뜻을 이루어 드리는데 힘을 쓰는 헌신된 고용인은 에베소서 5장 10절 말씀처럼 주님을 기쁘시게 할 일이 무엇인지 살펴봅니다(엡 5:10). 주님께 헌신된 고용인은 주님을 기쁘시게 하고자 빛의 자녀
답게 살므로 빛의 열매를 맺습니다. 그 빛의 열매란 선하고 의롭고 진실하게 사는 것입니다. 그는
직장에서도 선한 일을 행하고 의를 행하되 예수님께서 행하시는 대로 주님의 계명인 “서로 사랑”합니다. 그리고 그는 진실하게 말할 뿐만 아니라 진실하게 행함으로 하나님의 기뻐하심을 받습니다.
