We are taught that we must become upright people who, in God’s sight, are blameless and fully keep His commandments. “In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly” [(Modern Translation: “When Herod was king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah of the division of Abijah, and his wife Elizabeth also came from the family of Aaron. They were righteous before God and faithfully kept all the Lord’s commandments and regulations without fault”)] (Luke 1:5–6). While meditating on this passage, I would like to draw out the lessons given to us: (1) The author of Luke’s Gospel, Luke, first wrote to Theophilus about John the Baptist’s parents. 어느 누구도 하나님의 일을 능히 막을 수 없습니다! 하나님께서 하신 일인줄을 몰라 베드로를 비난했던 할례받은 신자들이 베드로가 일어난 일을 처음부터 차근차근 설명한 것을 다 듣고나서는 의심이 풀어져서 하나님을 찬양하며 하나님께서 이방인에게도 생명에 이르는 회개의 기회를 주셨다고 말했습니다 ( 사도행전 11:1-18, 현대인의 성경 ). 하나님께서 행하신 일을 알지 못하고 우리를 비난하는 형제 , 자매들에게 우리는 일어난 일을 처음부터 차근차근 설명하면서 " 내가 누군데 하나님의 일을 막을 수 있겠습니까 ?" 라고 말할 수 있어야 합니다 (17 절 , 현대인의 성경 ). 우리가 능히 막을 수 없는 하나님의 일을 막으려는 사람들도 있을 수 있겠지만 만일 하나님께서 하나님의 일을 우리를 통해 하셨다면 우리는 그 일이 우리의 일도 아니고 하나님의 일이요 또한 우리가 행한 일도 아니고 하나님께서 우리를 통해 하신 일이기에 하나님 아버지의 뜻이 하늘에서 이룬 것 같이 땅에서도 이루어졌다는 믿음 ( 마 15:10, 현대인의 성경 ) 을 가지고 " 여호와여 , 영광을 우리에게 돌리지 마소서 . ... 모든 사람들이 주에게만 영광을 돌리게 하소서 " 라고 담대하게 겸손한 마음으로 하나님께 기도해야 합니다 ( 시편 115:1, 현대인의 성경 ).
