For some of us, it’s been a while. In our hard-working, highly productive culture, we can sometimes feel like exhausted swimmers swept downstream in a fast-moving river, fighting to keep our heads above water, gasping for air. We get up early and stay up late. We never waste a minute. Our schedule is full, running here, running there, running late, running to catch up, running on empty, until we collapse in utter exhaustion. Underneath the satisfaction of being hard-working, hard-playing people is a weariness that’s desperate for the pace to relent so we can rest and recharge. 하나님의 말씀에 순종하기가 힘든 이유? 만일 아브라함이 하나님을 신뢰하기 보다 자기 명철을 의지했더라면 ( 잠언 3:5-6) 하나님께서 그에게 사랑하는 아들 독자 이삭을 번제로 드리라는 매우 힘든 시험을 하셨을 때 ( 창세기 22:1-2) 그는 독자 이삭을 번제로 받치지 못했을 것입니다 . 그 이유는 자신이 100 세 때 얻은 (21:5) 독자 이삭을 사랑했기 때문이기도 하겠지만 (22:2) 그보다 더 큰 이유는 만일 독자 이삭을 번제로 드리면 하나님께서 자기에게 약속하신 "... 보라 ... 네 자손이 이와 ( 하늘의 셀 수 없는 뭇별처럼 ) 란 말씀이 성취될 수가 없다고 믿었기 때문일 것입니다 (15:5). 그러나 아브라함은 자신의 명철을 의지하지 않고 하나님을 믿고 또한 하나님을 경외하므로 (22:12) 사랑하는 독자 이삭까지도 아끼지 않고 (12 절 ) 하나님의 말씀에 순종하여 이삭을 믿음으로 드렸습니다 (9-10 절 , 히브리서 11:17).
