어떻게 슬픔을 기쁨으로 견딜 수 있는 것일까? 예수님께서는 사랑하시는 나사로가 병들었다는 소식을 들으셨음에도 불구하고 곧장 베다니로 가지 않으시고 그 계시던 곳에 이틀을 더 유하신 목적은 제자들로 하여금 예수님을 믿게 하려는 것이었습니다 . 그래서 예수님께서는 제자들에게 " 내가 거기 ( 나사로가 살고 있었던 베다니 ) 있지 아나힌 것을 너희 ( 제자들 ) 를 위하여 기뻐하 " 신다고 말씀하셨습니다 ( 요한복음 11:6, 15). 분명히 죽은 나사로로 인해 우는 마리아와 그녀를 위로하로 온 유대인들이 우는 것을 보시고 심령에 비통히 여기시고 불쌍히 여기시사 눈물을 흘리셨던 예수님이신데 (33, 35 절 ) 어떻게 예수님께서는 앞으로 흘리실 눈물 , 그 슬픔조차도 견디시고 제자들 ( 의 믿음 ) 을 위하여 기뻐하실 수 있으셨을까요 ?(15 절 ) 저는 그 대답을 골로새서 1 장 11 절에서 찾게 되었습니다 : " 그 ( 하나님 ) 의 영광의 힘을 따라 모든 능력으로 능하게 하시며 기쁨으로 모든 견딤과 오래 참음에 이르게 하시고 ."
