The Inseparable Love of God (1) [ Romans 8:38-39 ] Why can nothing separate us from the love of God? 1. Because God’s love is eternal. Romans 8:29a says: “For those whom He foreknew…” The word “foreknew” refers to before eternity began —before the creation of heaven and earth . The phrase “those whom He foreknew” does not simply mean knowing about someone intellectually, but rather loving them. In other words, it refers to “those whom God loved from eternity past.” Amos 3:2a says: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth.” If “known” merely meant intellectual knowledge, that would imply that God only knew Israel and did not know the other nations—which cannot be true, because the all-knowing God lacks knowledge of nothing. Therefore, “I have known you only” means “I have loved you only.” God loved Israel among all the nations of the earth. 하나님께서 우리로 하여금 하나님께서 금하신 것을 행하지 않도록 막아주시길 기원합니다 . 하나님께서 기름 부어 세우신 사울 왕을 해칠 수도 있었지만 하나님께서 금하신 것이기에 그의 옷자락만 살며시 벤 후에도 양심의 가책을 받았던 다윗 ( 사무엘상 24:4-6, 현대인의 성경 ) 은 아무리 자기의 부하들을 모욕하고 (25:14) 자기의 선을 악으로 갚았다 (21 절 , 현대인의 성경 ) 할지라도 하나님께서 금하신 나발과 그의 전 가족을 자기의 손으로 직접 죽여 보복하려고 하지 말았어야 했습니다 (26 절 , 현대인의 성경 ). 하나님께서 지혜로운 아비가일을 다윗에게 보내사 다윗으로 하여금 사람을 직접 죽여 원수를 갚지 않도록 막아 주신 것입니다 (32-33 절 , 현대인의 성경 ). 하나님께서 우리로 하여금 하나님께서 금하신 것을 행하지 않도록 막아주시길 기원합니다 . 그러므로 우리는 다윗처럼 하나님께서 금하신 것을 행하지 말아야 합니다 . 그럼에도 불구하고 다윗처럼 하나님께서 금하신 것을 행하려고 할 때에 하나님께서 우리에게 아비가일 같은 지혜로운 사람을 보내주셔서 우리가 행하려고 하는 하나님께서 금하신 것을 막아주시길 기원합니다 .
