"여호와의 기름 부으신" 사울 왕의 옷자락을 벰으로 마음에 찔림이 있었던 다윗은(삼상 24:5) 자신이 왕이 되어 압살롬으로부터 도망칠 때 시므이가 그를 저주하므로 죽어 마땅한 죄를 범했는데도 불구하고(삼하19:21) 그에게 "네가 죽지 아니하리라 하고 그에게 맹세"까지 했습니다(23).

하나님의 아들 예수님께서 자기 백성에게 왔지만 그들은 예수님을 영접하지 않았을 뿐만 아니라(11:11) 독생자 예수님을 저주의 나무인 십자가에 못박아 죽였습니다.   예수님께서는 하나님 아버지에게 이렇게 기도하셨습니다: "아버지 저들을 사하여 주옵소서 자기들이 하는 것을 알지 못함이니이다"( 23:34).
