The Inseparable Love of God (1) [ Romans 8:38-39 ] Why can nothing separate us from the love of God? 1. Because God’s love is eternal. Romans 8:29a says: “For those whom He foreknew…” The word “foreknew” refers to before eternity began —before the creation of heaven and earth . The phrase “those whom He foreknew” does not simply mean knowing about someone intellectually, but rather loving them. In other words, it refers to “those whom God loved from eternity past.” Amos 3:2a says: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth.” If “known” merely meant intellectual knowledge, that would imply that God only knew Israel and did not know the other nations—which cannot be true, because the all-knowing God lacks knowledge of nothing. 로마 총독 본디오 빌라도도 예수님에게서 죄를 찾지 못했다고 3번이나 말했음에도 불구하고(눅23:14, 15, 22), 그 큰 무리는 "큰 소리로 재촉하여" 예수님을 "십자가에 못 박기를 구"했습니다(21절). 예수님을 "죄를 알지도 못하신" 분인데(고후5:21), 그래서 본디오 빌라도도 예수님을 "심문"해 본 후 예수님에게서 죄를 찾지 못했던 것인데 (눅23:14, 15, 22) 그 무지한 큰 무리들은 예수님이 "신성모독" 죄(5:21)와 '성전모독' 죄(요2:19)로 마땅히 하나님께 저주를 받아 죽어야 한다고 확신했기에(신21:23; 갈3:13) 큰 소리로 "십자가에 못 박게 하소서"라고 두 번이나 소리를 질렀던 것입니다(눅23:21).
