이복 오빠에게 강간을 당한 다말은 자기 오빠 압살롬의 집에서 처량하게
지내고 있었을 때 압살롬은 암논이 자기 동생 다말을 욕보인 일로 그를 미워하여 그와 일체 말을 하지 않았습니다(사무엘하 13:20, 22, 현대인의 성경). 그로부터 2년 후에(23절, 현대인의 성경) 압살롬은 암논을 죽였습니다(29절, 현대인의 성경). 그 2년 동안 압살롬은
자기의 여동생을 욕보인 암논을 미워하여 그를 죽이려고 얼마나 복수의 칼을 갈았을까요? 그 와중에 아버지 다윗은 암논이 다말에게 행한 모든 일을
듣고 “심히 노하”기만 했습니다(21절). 성경은 아버지
다윗이 어리석은 아들 암논을 사랑으로 징계는커녕 책망을 했다는 말씀도 없습니다. 또한 성경은 아버지 다윗이 압살롬의 집에서 처량하게 지내고
있었던 자기의 딸 다말을 찾아가 위로했다는 말씀도 없습니다.
아마도 다윗은 이스라엘 왕으로서 나라의 일을 하느라 무지 바빠서 가정 사역을 할 시간이 없었나 봅니다.
