자기의 사람을 사랑하는 마음이 없으면 용기를 내어 그 사람을 지킬 수 없습니다.
요압 장군은 자기의 충성된 군인 우리아를 위하여 용기를 내어 우리아를
죽이려고 하는 다윗 왕의 지시를 거부했어야 했습니다. 그러나 그에게는 그만한 용기도 없었을 뿐만 아니라 그는 그만큼 자기의 충성된 군인인 우리아를 사랑하는 마음도 없었습니다. 이렇게 다윗왕을 향한 요압 장군의 맹목적인 충성과 순종은
결국 다윗왕이 살인죄를 범하는데 도구로 쓰임을 받습니다(사무엘하 11:14-25, 현대인의 성경). 자기의
사람을 사랑하는 마음이 없으면 용기를 내어 그 사람을 지킬 수 없습니다.
권력을 향한 맹목적인 충성과 순종은 그저 권력자의 죄의 도구가 될 뿐입니다.
