우리아의 아내 밧세바라는 사실을 알게 되었으면서도 불구하고 그 유부녀를 자기에게 데려오게 하여 그녀와 잠자리를 같이 했습니다(사무엘하 11:2-4, 현대인의 성경). 모세의 십계명을 보면 열 번째 계명에 “네 이웃의 집을 탐내지 말라 네 이웃의 아내나 …”라고 말씀하고 있습니다(출애굽기 20:17). 그런데 다윗은 이 계명을 어기고 이웃의 아내를 탐했습니다.
