모세의 장인과 사위인 모세와의 관계
(출애굽기 18:13-27)
1. 모세의 장인은 모세가 이스라엘 백성에게 행하는 모든 일을 보았습니다.
2. 모세의 장인은 모세가 이스라엘 백성을 재판하느라 "홀로 앉아 있고 백성은 아침부터 저녁까지" 그의 곁에 서 있는 것이 "옳지 못하도다"고 그에게 말했습니다. 그 이유는 모세와 이스라엘 백성이 "필경 기력이 쇠"할 것이고 또한 모세가 이 중한 일을 혼자할 수 없기 때문입니다.
3. 모세의 장인은 모세에게 "방침을 가르"쳐 주었습니다. 그 방침은 모세의 중한 일을 함께 담당 할 수 있는 "능력 있는 사람들 곧 하나님을 두려워하며 진실하며 불의한 이익을 미워하는 자"들을 "천부장과 백부장과 오십부장과 십부장"을 삼는 것이었습니다. 그리하면 모세에게 일이 쉬울 것이고 또한 이스라엘 백성도 "자기 곳으로 평한히" 갈 것이기 때문입니다.
4. 모세는 자신의 장인의 말을 다 듣고 그 모든 말대로 했습니다.
