한 사람 "모르드개"는 아하수에로 왕이 명령대로 하만에게 꿇지도 않고 절하지도 않으므로 하만을 매우 노하게했습니다(에스더 4:1-5). 그 결과 하만은 모르드개 뿐만 아니라 아하수에로의 온 나라에 있는 모르드개의 민족인 유다인을 다 멸하고자 했습니다(6절) [여기서 잘 이해가 안되는 점은 왜 모르드개는 에스더에게 명령하여 자기의 민족과 종족을 말하지 말라고 해놓고(2:10, 20) 자기는 유다인임을 알렸는가 입니다(3:4)]. 그러나 하나님께서는 "죽으면 죽으리이다"라고 결심한 한 사람 "에스더"(4:16)를 통해 모르드개 뿐만 아니라 유다인을 그 멸망의 위기에서 건지셨습니다(8-9장) [여기서 저는 "죽으면 죽으리이다"라고 결심한 한 사람 에스더를 생각할 때 "한 분 예수 그리스도"(롬5:17)이 십자가에 죽으심으로(빌2:8) 말미암아 우리가 의롭다 하심을 받아 영원한 생명에 이르게된 사실을 생각하게 되었습니다(롬5:18)].
