아버지 다윗이 아들 솔로몬에게 한 유언 내용 중에는 세 사람의 이름을
언급했습니다:
(1) 요압, (2) 바실래, (3) 시므이. 다윗은 솔로몬에게 그 세 사람들 중에 요압과 시므이는 지혜로운
아들 솔로몬이 지혜롭게 다루어 그들의 죄에 대한 벌(punishment)을 내릴 것을 유언했습니다. 그리고 나머지 한 사람인 바실래는 그의 아들들에게 상급(reward)을 내리되 그들에게 친절을 베풀어 그들로 하여금 솔로몬의 식탁에 앉아 먹게 하라고 유언했습니다(열왕기상 2:5-9, 현대인의 성경). 저는 이 다윗의 유언의 말씀을 묵상할 때 다윗은 죽기 전까지

끼친(호의를 베푼) 바실래에게는 그의 아들들에게 상급을 내려라. 우리는 바실래처럼 사람들에게 좋은(선한) 영향을 끼치면서 살다가 주님께서 천국으로 오라고 하셔서 주님 앞에 설 때에 주님께 칭찬과
상급을 받을 수 있길 기원합니다.
