충실한 목사님?
아무 죽을 일을 하지도 않았는데 사울 왕이 자기를 죽이기로 결심한 줄을 안 다윗(삼상20:31-33)이 "홀로 있고 함께 하는 자가 아무도 없"었을 때" 제사장 아히멜렉은 "떨며 다윗을 영접하"였습니다(21:1). 그리고 제사장 아히멜렉은 다윗을 위하여 하나님께 묻고 그에게 음식도 주고 블레셋 사람 골리앗이 칼도 주는 바람에(22:10) 사울 왕 앞에 서게 되었습니다(11절). 그 때 사울 왕은 제사장 아히멜렉에게 "네가 어찌하여 이새의 아들(다윗)과 공모하여 나(사울 왕)를 대적하여 그에게 떡과 칼을 주고 그를 위하여 하나님께 물어서 그에게 오늘이라도 매복하였다가 나를 치게 하려 하였느냐"라고 말했습니다(13절). 분명히 제사장 아히멜렉은 다윗고 공모한 것도 아니요 하나님께 물어서 다윗에게 오늘이라도 매복하였다가 사울 왕을 치게 하려고 했던 것도 결코 아니었는데 말입니다. 그 때 제사장 아히멜렉은 사울 왕에게 이렇게 대답하였습니다: "왕의 모든 신하 중에 다윗 같이 충실한 자가 누구인지요 그는 왕의 사위도 되고 왕의 호위대장도 되고 왕실에서 존귀한 자가 아니니이까"(14절). 그 결과 제사장 아히멜렉과 그의 온 집[아들 아비아달만 빼고(20절)]이 다 죽임을 당했습니다(16, 18절). "충실한 자" 다윗(14절)에게는 이렇게 충실한 하나님의 종 "제사장 아히멜렉"이 있었습니다.
