A. What Is Biblical Mission? “Biblical mission means more than simply going overseas to plant churches or spread civilization. It means the church participating in the ‘mission of God (Missio Dei)’ and seeking the restoration of God’s rule and glory throughout the whole earth. Mission is not a program that begins with human enthusiasm; rather, it is the heart of God that runs throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, and is a fundamental reason for the church’s existence. Let me clearly summarize five essential principles of true mission as presented in Scripture. 🌍 1. The Mission of God (Missio Dei) The subject and initiator of mission is not human beings but God. "잃게 되면 잃으리로다"
가나안 땅에 기근은 더욱 심각해지고 이집트에서 가져온 식량도 다 떨어졌을
때에 서야 아버지 야곱은 베냐민을 다른 아들들과 함께 이집트로 보냅니다(창세기 43:1-2,
13, 현대인의 성경). 떠나 보내면서 야곱은 이렇게 말합니다: "전능하신 하나님께서 그 사람 앞에서 너희에게
은혜를 베푸사 그 사람으로 너희 다른 형제와 베냐민을 돌려보내게 하시기를 원하노라 내가 자식을 잃게 되면 잃으리로다"(14절). 이미 특별히 사랑하던
자식 요셉을 잃었다고 생각하는 야곱에게 있어서 또 다른 사랑하는 부인 라헬의 소생인 베냐민마저 "잃게 되면 잃으리로다"라는 마음 자세로 이집트로 보낸 것을 생각할 때 에스더가 한
말인 "죽으면 죽으리이다"가 생각납니다(에스더 4:16). 그런데
우리 하나님 아버지께서는 사랑하시고 기뻐하시는 독생자 예수 그리스도를 이 죄악 된 세상에 보내실 때 "잃게 되면 잃으리로다"나 "죽으면 죽으리이다"가 아니라 실제로 잃으시고 십자가에 죽게 하시고자 보내셨다는 생각이 듭니다. 그 목적은 불순종과 죄 때문에 영적으로 죽었던 우리들을(에베소서 2:1, 현대인의 성경) 살리시기 위해서였습니다(요한일서 4:9). 예수님의
말씀입니다: "누구든지 제 목숨을 구원하고자 하면 잃을 것이요 누구든지 나를 위하여 제 목숨을 잃으면
찾으리라"(마태복음 16:25).
