아버지 이삭은 두 번이나 '네가(너는) 누구냐'라고 물었습니다. 한 번은 자신을 속이는 작은 아들 야곱에게 물었고,
다른 한 번은 자기가 사랑하는 맏아들 에서에게 물었습니다(창세기
27:18, 32). 야곱의 답변은
"나는 아버지의 맏아들 에서로소이다"였고(19절), 에서의 답변은 "나는 아버지의 아들 곧
아버지의 맏아들 에서로소이다"였습니다(32절). 나이가 많아서 눈이 어두워 잘 보지 못하였던 아버지 이삭은(1절) 누가 진짜 자기가 사랑하는 맏아들 에서인지 분별하지 못했습니다(23절). 특히 그의 두
아들 에서와 야곱은 "쌍둥이"였기에 분별하기가 더
힘들었을 것입니다(25:24). 이렇게
아버지 이삭은 누가 진짜 자기가 사랑하는 아들인지도 분별하지 못하고 축복했지만 우리 하나님 아버지는 누가 진짜 하나님께서 사랑하시는 자녀인지를
분명히 아시고 그리스도 안에서 하늘의 모든 영적인 복을 우리에게 내려 주셨습니다(에베소서
1:3, 현대인의 성경).
