For some of us, it’s been a while. In our hard-working, highly productive culture, we can sometimes feel like exhausted swimmers swept downstream in a fast-moving river, fighting to keep our heads above water, gasping for air. We get up early and stay up late. We never waste a minute. Our schedule is full, running here, running there, running late, running to catch up, running on empty, until we collapse in utter exhaustion. Underneath the satisfaction of being hard-working, hard-playing people is a weariness that’s desperate for the pace to relent so we can rest and recharge. 예수님도 놀랍게 여기시는 불신앙
예수님의 고향의 많은 사람들이 예수님의 지혜와 권능을 알고도 예수님을 배척했습니다. 그 이유는 그들은 예수님은 마리아의 아들 목수이며 야고보와 요셉과 유다와 시몬의 형제요 또한 예수님의 누이 동생들도 자기들과 함께 거기 있었기 때문입니다. 예수님은 그들이 자기를 믿지 않는 것을 보시고 놀라지 않을 수 없었습니다. 예수님께서는 가버나움에서 어떤 백부장의 말을 들으시고 그를 놀랍게 여기시사 "내가 분명히 말하지만 이스라엘 사람 중에서도 이만한 믿음을 보지 못하였다"고 말씀하셨었는데, 자신의 고향의 많은 사람들의 경우에는 그들의 믿지 않는 것을 보시고 놀라실 정도였습니다(마가복음 6:1-3, 6; 누가복음 7:1-9; 현대인의 성경).
