다툼은 사소한 데서 시작이 되기 때문에 싸움이 벌어지기 전에 미리 시비를 그쳐야 합니다.  그러나 미련한 자는 분노와 욕심 가운데서 다툼을 피하지 않고 오히려 다툼을 일으키므로  다툼은 쉽게 그치지 않습니다(잠언 17:14, 20:3; 28:25; 29:9, 22, 현대인의 성경).
