아르타크셀크세스 황제(아닥사스다 왕)의 답장문을 보면 그는 자기가 다시 명령할 때까지 유다 사람들에게 작업을 중단시켜
예루살렘 성을 재건하지 못하게 하여 더 이상 자기에게 피해가 없도록 하라고 글을 썼습니다. 그의 편지가 도착하자 “르훔과 서기관 심새와 그들의 동료들은 편지를 읽어 보고 즉시 예루살렘으로 가서 권력과 힘으로 그 성의 재건 공사를 중단시켰”습니다(에스라 4:21-23, 현대인의 성경). 저는 이 말씀을 묵상할 때 교회를 대적하는 사탄과 그의 세력은
주님의 교회가 세워지는 것을 막으려고 수단방법을 가리지 않으므로 처음에는 승리하는 것 같아 보일지라도 결국에 가서는 패할 수밖에 없는 것은 주님께서
승리하실 것이기 때문입니다.
