The Inseparable Love of God (1) [ Romans 8:38-39 ] Why can nothing separate us from the love of God? 1. Because God’s love is eternal. Romans 8:29a says: “For those whom He foreknew…” The word “foreknew” refers to before eternity began —before the creation of heaven and earth . The phrase “those whom He foreknew” does not simply mean knowing about someone intellectually, but rather loving them. In other words, it refers to “those whom God loved from eternity past.” Amos 3:2a says: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth.” If “known” merely meant intellectual knowledge, that would imply that God only knew Israel and did not know the other nations—which cannot be true, because the all-knowing God lacks knowledge of nothing. Therefore, “I have known you only” means “I have loved you only.” God loved Israel among all the nations of the earth. "나의 평생에 선하심과 인자하심이 정녕 나를 따르리니 내가 여호와의 집에 영원히 거하리로다"(시편 23:6).
우리 하나님은 선하십니다(시편 86:5). 우리를 향하신 하나님의 뜻도 선하십니다(로마서 12:2). 하나님께서는이 모든 것을 합력하여 선을 이루십니다(8:28). 하나님의 선한 손길이 함께하시므로(느헤미야 2:8, 18) 하나님의 선하신 뜻은 반드시 이 땅에 이루어집니다. 그러므로 우리는 하나님의 선하심을 맛보아 알아야합니다(시편 34:8). 이렇게 하나님의 선하심이 정녕 우리를 따르기 때문에 우리는 반드시 여호와의 집에 영원히 거할 것입니다(시편 23:6).
하나님은 사랑이십니다(요한일서 4:8, 16). 하나님 우리를 창세 전에 먼저 사랑하셨습니다(19절; 로마서 8:29; 에베소서 1:4). 하나님은 우리를 창세 전에 선택하셔서(에베소서 1:4) 우리를 구원하여 영생을 주시고자(요한복음 3:16) 독생자 예수님을 이 땅에 보내 주시고(갈라디아서4:4) 십자가에 못 박혀 죽게 하시므로 우리에 대한 사랑을 확정하셨습니다(로마서 5:8).
이 하나님의 구원의 사랑(인자하심)이 정녕 우리를 따르기 때문에 우리는 반드시 여호와의 집에 영원히 거할 것입니다(시편 23:6).
