The Inseparable Love of God (1) [ Romans 8:38-39 ] Why can nothing separate us from the love of God? 1. Because God’s love is eternal. Romans 8:29a says: “For those whom He foreknew…” The word “foreknew” refers to before eternity began —before the creation of heaven and earth . The phrase “those whom He foreknew” does not simply mean knowing about someone intellectually, but rather loving them. In other words, it refers to “those whom God loved from eternity past.” Amos 3:2a says: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth.” If “known” merely meant intellectual knowledge, that would imply that God only knew Israel and did not know the other nations—which cannot be true, because the all-knowing God lacks knowledge of nothing. 예수님의 소문을 듣고 모인 많은 사람들 중에는 예수님의 말씀도 듣고 병도 고치려고 모여든 사람들도 있었지만 "도대체 이 사람이 누군데 감히 하나님을 모독하는가? 하나님 한 분 외에 누가 죄를 용서할 수 있단 말인가?"하면서 수군거린 "바리새파 사람들과 율법학자들"도 있었습니다(누가복음 5:15, 17-21, 현대인의 성경).
우리 주위에 많은 사람들 중에는 우리에 대해 부정적으로 수군거리는 사람들도 있을 수 있다는 것을 알아야 합니다. 그 부정적으로 수군거리는 사람들이 결국에 가서는 우리에게 치명적으로 공격을 할 수도 있습니다.
