가인은 선을 행하지 않으므로 죄가 그의 문 앞에 도사리고 앉았고 결국 죄를 이기지 못하고 죄가 그를 다스렸습니다.  그 결과 그는 마귀에게 속하여 동생 아벨을 들로 데리고 나가서 쳐죽였습니다.  그가 왜 동생을 죽였습니까? 자기 행위는 악하고 동생의 행위는 의로왔기 때문입니다.  이렇게 죄를 이기지 못하고 죄에 다스림을 받으면 형제를 미워하여 살인까지 합니다(창세기 4:7-8; 요한일서 3:12, 15, 현대인의 성경).
