지혜의 충고와 책망을 무시하고 받아들이지 않는 어리석은 자들은 자만하며 제 고집대로 하다가 두려운 재앙을 만나 근심과 슬픔 가운데 있을 것입니다. 그 때 아무리 하나님을 찾아도 만나지 못할 것이며, 하나님을 불러도 하나님께서 대답하지 않을 것입니다. 그 이유는 어리석은 자들이 지식을 미워하며 하나님 경외하기를 즐거워하지 아니하고 하나님의 충고를 받아들이지 않고 하나님의 책망을 업신여겼기 때문입니다(잠언 1:25-32, 현대인의 성경).
