The Inseparable Love of God (1) [ Romans 8:38-39 ] Why can nothing separate us from the love of God? 1. Because God’s love is eternal. Romans 8:29a says: “For those whom He foreknew…” The word “foreknew” refers to before eternity began —before the creation of heaven and earth . The phrase “those whom He foreknew” does not simply mean knowing about someone intellectually, but rather loving them. In other words, it refers to “those whom God loved from eternity past.” Amos 3:2a says: “You only have I known of all the families of the earth.” If “known” merely meant intellectual knowledge, that would imply that God only knew Israel and did not know the other nations—which cannot be true, because the all-knowing God lacks knowledge of nothing. Therefore, “I have known you only” means “I have loved you only.” God loved Israel among all the nations of the earth. 여러분을 위해 기도하고 있습니다” (2)
사도 바울은 골로새 교회의 신실한 성도들을
위하여 쉬지 않고 기도하였습니다(골1:9).
첫째로, 그는
그들이 하나님의 뜻을 아는 지식으로 채워주시길 하나님께 쉬지 않고 기도했습니다(9절). 사도 바울은 그들이 예수님을 잘 믿고 또한 성령님 안에서 사랑으로 생활한다는 소식을 전해 듣고 (4-5, 8절) 그리 쉬지 않고 기도한 것입니다. 그는 그들이 하나님을 아는 지식이 점점 자라기를 바랬습니다(10절). 바울은 그저 그들이
하나님의 뜻을 아는 지식으로만 채워지길 원하지 않고 오히려 그들이 하나님의 뜻대로 살아가기를 쉬지 않고 기도했습니다. 그것을 어떻게 알 수 있는가 하면 바울은 “모든 신령한 지혜와 총명에”라고 말했기 때문입니다(9절).
여기서 “지혜”란 성경의 원리를 축적하고 조직하는 능령”이요, “총명”이란 그 원리를 일상생활에 적용하는 것입니다(맥아더). 즉, 사도 바울은 하나님께서
모든 영적인 지혜와 총명으로 골로새 교회의 신실한 성도들에게 하나님의 뜻을 아는 지식으로 채워 주시기를 쉬지 않고 기도한 것입니다. 우리 모두 하나님께서 우리에게도 모든 영적인 지혜와 총명으로
하나님의 뜻을 아는 지식으로 채워주시길 그치지(쉬지) 않고 기도하십시다.
