The Second Blessing of the Beatitudes: Those who weep will surely laugh!

The Second Blessing of the Beatitudes : Those who weep will surely laugh!         “Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh” ( Luke 6:21b ).           I want to receive the lesson given as I meditate on the words,   (1)    I wish to receive the lesson given as I meditate on the latter half of Luke 6:21, the second blessing of the Beatitudes, in connection with Matthew 5:4 , which says, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”   (a)     In the latter half of Luke 6:21, the word “weep” comes from the Greek word κλαίοντες (klaiontes), which means “to weep aloud properly, to express sorrow with audible crying because it cannot be restrained (to cry out loud)” (internet).   This same Greek word also appears in the latter half of verse 25: “… Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.”   (i)      ...

Distrust, disobedience, discontentment (Deuteronomy 1:32)

Day 6: Distrust, disobedience, discontentment         “But for all this, you did not trust the LORD your God” (Deuteronomy 1:32).                       Those who believe in God obey His word.   And those who obey God's word believe in Him.   The more we obey God's word, the more we experience His guidance, leading us to have even greater faith in Him.   When we obey God, we come to know Him more as our God.   Those who do not believe in God disobey His word.   And those who disobey God's word do not believe in Him.   The more we disobey God's word, the less we experience His guidance, leading us to dwell more in disbelief.   When we disobey God, we become more ignorant not only about God's nature but also about ourselves, making us prone to sin more against God in our hearts, driven by arrogance and pride.   The wicked fr...

Trust (신뢰)

Trust (신뢰)  "'Batach' is one of the Hebrew words the Bible translates as 'trust'.   ...   One of the meaning of 'batach' is 'to be careless.'   It's not careless as in irresponsible or impulsive.   It's care-less, as in without any cares or concerns.   If you have a 'batach' kind of trust, you feel free with someone;  you don't have to edit yourself, be vigilant about what you say, or walk on eggshells.   In 'batach', you open up a vulnerable part of yourself to God or another person without second-guessing or worrying about betrayal.   That's trust." [Dr. John Townsend, "Beyond Boundaries: Learning to trust again in relationships"]

Humility and Trust

Humility and Trust  "We must never lower the standard of inspiration.    The Word of God stands above the best reason and wisdom of men"   We need humility and trust in reading God's Word: Humility to forsake our own judgment as the final authority, and Trust in God's Word even when we can't understand (James E. Adams).

No Doubt but Trust

No Doubt but Trust    I must not  allow my difficult circumstances  to cast doubt on God's faithful love toward me.   Instead,  I must  trust God's promises,  even when they are not confirmed  by outward circumstances.   (As I am reading C. D. "Jimmy" AGAN III's "The IMITATION of CHRIST in the GOSPEL of LUKE")
