We are taught that we must become upright people who, in God’s sight, are blameless and fully keep His commandments. “In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly” [(Modern Translation: “When Herod was king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah of the division of Abijah, and his wife Elizabeth also came from the family of Aaron. They were righteous before God and faithfully kept all the Lord’s commandments and regulations without fault”)] (Luke 1:5–6). While meditating on this passage, I would like to draw out the lessons given to us: (1) The author of Luke’s Gospel, Luke, first wrote to Theophilus about John the Baptist’s parents. 보이는 것으로 살고 믿음으로 살지 않는 도마와 같은 그리스도인? 왜 도마는 부활하신 예수님이 제자들에게 처음 나타나셨을 때 그 곳에 없었을까요 ? 다른 제자들은 예수님의 못자국난 손과 창자국난 옆구리만 보고도 주님으로 인해 기뻐했는데 왜 도마는 그 못자국에 손가락을 넣으며 자기 손을 예수님의 옆구리에 넣어 보지 않고는 믿지 않겠다고 말했을까요 ? ( 요한복음 20:19-20, 24-25) 어쩌면 그 이유가 도마는 죽음에 대한 두려움이 많았기 때문이 아닐까요 ? (11:16) 어쩌면 그 이유가 도마는 길이요 진리요 생명이신 예수님을 진정으로 알지 못했기 때문이 아닐까요 ? (14:4-7) 그 이유는 도마는 " 믿음 없는 자 " 였기 때문인 것 같습니다 (20:27). 이렇게 믿음이 없는 자는 육신의 눈으로 보고 , 육신의 손가락과 손으로 만지면서 보이는 것으로 살지 믿음으로 살고 있지 않습니다 ( 고린도후서 5:7).
