우리는 실컷 먹고 배부른 다음에를 매우 조심해야 합니다. 우리 하나님은 광야의 메마른 땅과 같은 이 세상에서 우리를 보살펴 주시고 계십니다 . 그러나 우리는 실컷 먹고 배부른 다음에는 교만해져서 하나님을 잊어버리곤 합니다 ( 참고 : 호세아 13:5-6, 현대인의 성경 ). 이것은 마치 출애굽 당시에 이스라엘 백성들이 가나안 땅에 들어가서 먹을 것이 풍부하고 아름다운 집을 짓고 살며 양떼와 소떼와 은과 금과 재산이 많아질 때 교만하여 이집트에서 종살이하던 그들을 인도해 내신 그들의 하나님을 잊어버린 것과 같습니다 . 이러한 사람들에게 하나님의 말씀은 “ 여러분은 오늘 내가 가르치는 여호와의 모든 법과 규정을 어기고 여러분의 하나님 여호와를 잊어버리지 않도록 조심하십시오 ” 입니다 ( 참고 : 신명기 8:11-14, 현대인의 성경 ).
