For some of us, it’s been a while. In our hard-working, highly productive culture, we can sometimes feel like exhausted swimmers swept downstream in a fast-moving river, fighting to keep our heads above water, gasping for air. We get up early and stay up late. We never waste a minute. Our schedule is full, running here, running there, running late, running to catch up, running on empty, until we collapse in utter exhaustion. Underneath the satisfaction of being hard-working, hard-playing people is a weariness that’s desperate for the pace to relent so we can rest and recharge. 주님의 기쁨을 충만하게 하는 교회 (3): 성령의 교제가 있는 교회 [ 빌립보서 2 장 1-4 절 말씀 묵상 ] 언젠가 교회 영어사역 지도자들과 대화를 나누면서 제가 그들에게 왜 대학교만 가면 사람들이 교회를 떠나는지 그들의 생각을 듣고 싶어 물어본 적이 있습니다 . 그 때 한 형제는 교회를 한번 두번 안나오기 시작하다 보면 습관이 되는 것 같다라고 말하였습니다 . 그런데 또 다른 형제는 어쩌면 교회 안에 ‘ socializing ’ ( 사교 ) 가 없어서 그런 것 같다고 말하면서 또 다른 영어 단어를 사용했는데 그 단어가 바로 “ fellowship ” ( 친교 / 친목 ) 였습니다 . 왠지 그 형제는 사교와 친교 / 친목을 비슷한 의미로 사용하는 것 같았습니다 . 여러분은 어떻게 생각하십니까 ? 제 개인적인 생각은 교회 안에서 남용되고 있는 기독교 용어 중에 하나가 바로 “교제” ( fellowship ) 라고 생각합니다 . 이 단어가 어떻게 남용되는가 하면 많은 성도님들이 “교제”를 무슨 “활동” ( activity ) 로 오해하고 있는 것 같습니다 . 그러나 교제는 활동이 아니라 “관계” ( relationship ) 입니다 ( Jerry Bridges ). 먼저 하나님과 친밀한 교제 ( 수직적인 교제 ) 를 통하여 관계를 세워나아가는 가운데 우리는 공동체 안에서 형제 / 자매들과 교제 ( 수평적인 교제 ) 를 통하여 관계를 세워 나아가야 합니다 . 성경 사도행전 2 장 ...
