\ Chapter 8: Emptying “Hatred” In the previous chapter, we examined how we must empty ourselves of “falsehood,” which hides or alters the truth for our own benefit. Now, in Chapter 8, we will examine another sin that deeply destroys our hearts and relationships: “hatred.” As we go through life, we are wounded. Sometimes we are betrayed by those close to us. Sometimes we experience injustice or feel that we have not been loved. At times, someone’s words or actions stir deep anger within us. Being wounded is not itself a sin. Feeling pain and anger when we have been treated unjustly can be a natural response. The problem is how we deal with that wound and anger. If we continue holding on to the wound, hating the other person, wishing for that person’s downfall, and nurturing the desire to repay them for what they have done to us, hatred will eventually begin to rule our hearts. 야곱의 하나님 , 우리의 하나님 “ 여호와께서 야곱에게 이르시되 네 조상의 땅 네 족속에게로 돌아가라 내가 너와 함께 있으리라 하신지라 ”( 창세기 31 장 3 절 ). 작년 2016 년 12 월 말에 온 가족 수련회가 있었습니다 . 저는 그 가족 수련회를 준비하다가 아이디어가 하나 떠올랐었습니다 . 그 아이디어란 저희 온 가족 가계도 (family tree) 를 만드는 것이었습니다 . 그래서 저는 저의 외증조 할아버님과 할머님부터 시작해서 저의 자녀 세대까지 가계도를 만들었습니다 . 제가 그리한 한 이유는 제가 가지고 있는 제한된 정보로는 저의 외증조 할아버님과 할머님이 예수님을 믿으신 분들이였기 때문입니다 ( 제가 듣기론 외증조 할아버님은 목사님이셨고 , 외증조 할머님은 제가 미국에 이민와서 그 다음해 돌아가시기 전까지 1 년 정도 뵌 기억이 있습니다 ). 제가 알기론 하나님께서 그 두분부터 시작하셔서 저의 할머님 , 그리고 저의 아버님과 아버님의 형제 분들에게 은혜를 베풀어 주셔서 저희 세대 뿐만 아니라 저의 자녀 세대까지 예수님을 믿게 하셨기 때문입니다 . 어느 면으로 보면 , 제가 만든 온 가족 가계도는 신앙의 가계도라고 말할 수 있을 것 같습니다 . 이 가계도를 만들면서 저는 현재 살아 있는 모든 가족 식구들 ( 한 70 여명 ) 이 누가 누구인지 좀 더 잘 알 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 특히 하나님께서 우리 온 가족 식구들에게 베풀어주신 구원의 은총을 되새기기 위해서였습니다 . 그래서 저는 ...
