“깨어 있으라”는 주님의 말씀이 생각납니다. 신랑이 늦도록 오지 않자 등은 가졌으나 기름이 없는 어리석은 처녀들뿐만 아니라 등에 기름을 채워 둔 슬기로운 처녀들도 졸다가 잠이 들었습니다 ( 마태복음 25:1-5, 현대인의 성경 ). 저는 이 말씀을 묵상할 때 “깨어 있으라”는 주님의 말씀이 생각납니다 : “그러므로 깨어 있으라 어느 날에 너희 주가 임할는지 너희가 알지 못함이니라” ( 마태복음 24:42), “그런즉 깨어 있으라 너희는 그 날과 그 때를 알지 못하느니라” (25:13), “주의하라 깨어 있으라 그 때가 언제인지 알지 못함이라” ( 마가복음 13:33), “이러므로 너희는 장차 올 이 모든 일을 능히 피하고 인자 앞에 서도록 항상 기도하며 깨어 있으라 하시니라” ( 누가복음 21:36).
